

PROCLAMATION 2026-01 (DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE VILLAGE OF HOBART)
WHEREAS, a series of weather events over the past several days have resulted in excessive rainfall, leading to flooding and road damage throughout the Village of Hobart, and;
WHEREAS, additional storms are anticipated in the next several days, and;
WHEREAS, Village Ordinance 5.11 states, “(i)n the event of an existing or threatened state of emergency endangering the lives, safety, health and welfare of the people within the Village or any part thereof, or threatening damages to or destruction of property, the Board President is hereby authorized and empowered to issue a public proclamation declaring to all persons the existence of such a state of emergency, and, in order to more effectively protect the lives and property of people within the Village, to place in effect any or all of the restrictions hereinafter authorized.”
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Richard Heidel, Village of Hobart President, do hereby declare a State of Emergency exists in the Village of Hobart, Brown County, Wisconsin, and this State of Emergency will remain in effect until further notice, and, furthermore, per Village Ordinance,
(1) Require that all motorists observe posted road and street closures in the Village and avoid those areas where storm damage has made vehicular and pedestrian travel dangerous and/or not conducive to the cleanup of said storm damage and the restoration of public services.
(2) Prohibit obtaining access or attempting to obtain access to any area, designated in the manner described in this section, in violation of any order, clearly posted notice, or barricade indicating that access is denied or restricted.
